4 · The 72-hour basics

Water & food

1 gallon of water per person per day and non-perishable food for at least 7 days. Don't forget a manual can opener.

Power & light

Charge everything, fuel the car and generator early, flashlights over candles, battery radio for when the cell network drops.

Papers & meds

Insurance policies, IDs, and this site's records of your property in a waterproof bag; 2 weeks of prescriptions; cash - ATMs go down.

Home & after

Photograph every room before the storm for insurance claims. Know your flood zone (it's on your property page) - flood damage is a separate policy.
